Gaetz Has the Votes to Topple McCarthy – House Could Be Useless

According to Hakeem Jeffries, every Democrat will vote against Kevin McCarthy today. Matt Gaetz says he has enough votes to topple McCarthy. I hope Gaetz has a plan.

According to multiple procedural experts, a vacancy in the speaker’s chair would essentially paralyze the House until a successor is chosen. An interim speaker would be chosen from a list prepared by Mr. McCarthy and his staff at the beginning of the year, but staff intimately familiar with House rules say the role of that person would be to oversee a speaker election and little more.

If McCarthy isn’t ousted, Gaetz said he’d file a new motion daily.

The House is all we had, and it will now be useless.

McCarthy betrayed his promises but his position is unenviable. Conservatives don’t have enough power,

  1. House Could Be Useless! So what’s new?????
My sister had a dog names useless; at least he krapped outside instead in the House! (sarc)

  2. President Trump has it right. If House business stops until there’s a new speaker what will become of committees investigating the Biden Crime Family. Can’t possibly see how this helps Trump in his effort to win back the White House.

  3. Ah come on. McCarthy is the “greatest speaker” in modern history?

The only time Gaetz gets booed is when he brings up lobbyists. That explains everything about McCarthy and “Republicans”.

  4. One of the final pro-McCarthy speaker was frantic, actually claiming the GOP put in the greatest border security ever. Gaetz is rock solid in actual debating. The pro-Mc speakers are reciting slogans.

    • It became sickening to hear so many McCarthyites “claim” how they passed this and that. But are those in effect at this time. It seems for quite some time the Republicans don’t want to actually govern, but would rather sit in opposition in order to bitch and complain. When in the majority you see everything Gaetz is complaining about, time and time again. What we have seen is a Paul Ryan Part II House.

  5. Then you have the next McCarthy supporter touting all the “successes” of McCarthy and the passage of legislation. All right, how many of those “successes” have actually made it into law. Jordan is another McCarthy suck-up. “We can’t help the Senate won’t take up those bills”. This is how it always works. Only when legislation is doomed to fail will the Republicans in the House work frantically to pass legislation.

  6. If Trump is elected and does what he’s suggested, then there will be chaos all across DC. The House situation will just be a rehearsal for what may soon come to pass. If the public truly desires a “change” in government then this is how it should begin. Significant change requires significant action. Listening to the Rep. from Oklahoma is precisely why we are where we are today. The vast majority in Congress and Executive have little desire to make life better for the general public. It’s all money and power. There should have been a shutdown. At some point it is necessary for all those in DC to suffer in some way, the same as they have perpetrated on the people across the country. This is where hundreds of billions is spent every year.

Obscure federal commissions and boards funded by taxpayers, contribute to budget bloat and patronage

    • But chaos under Trump cannot nearly match the invasion by 9 million, nationwide DOJ persecution or the huge inflation.
