A mob of teenagers beat, maced, kicked and stomped Marines in LA over the Memorial Day weekend on Friday night because the Marines told them to stop lighting fireworks and throwing them at each other. One of the Marines had been hit by debris from the fireworks.
Two of the victims were filmed lying on the ground in a fetal position protecting their heads.
A witness said he called 911 four times before the police came to deal with the wild crowd. The police have not confirmed that. The witness said they were rowdy, and some were drinking.
Two bystanders intervened. One woman and a man courageously stood between the mob and the victims, outstretched their arms and yelled, “Stop!”
Orange County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Frank Gonzalez said it is “considered an assault with a deadly weapon because of the amount of suspects we are investigating.” The weapons are their feet as victims lay helplessly on the ground.
After the mob realized they were Hispanic, they also screamed racial slurs.

I’m reminded June 22, 1969 approximately 2000 hours when returning from our little vacation in sunny Vietnam with other returnees in uniform at LAX; we were greeted with spit and garbage as exiting the plane. You could say things have changed or stayed the same but I’m thinking it’s worse now than then.

Those Marines aren’t too bright are they. Telling a mob of 50 to stop doing something is taking your life into your own hands. So they are throwing fireworks at each other. Who cares. Mind your own business and be safe.

I don t know how old you are but I am in my 60s and when I was young those things were very rare…things have changed, there is more savagery and coward attacks today than back then
I was attacked twice for being a Vietnam veteran. Between 1969 and 1972. One came to my table twice we (& friends) shooed him away. Third time I said OK, we went outside. After, returned to table he didn’t come back in. The other knocked me off a stool with no warning. Had no idea what it was about till half way through the ruckus. I doubt either one of us won. I hurt for a week. Several times called or asked “baby killer.” Finally started answering “yes,” they would be surprised while I looked in the eye informing them if 8-14 year old comes at you with AK47, suggest shooting him/her. Eventually when someone asked me if I was a veteran, for years I said no just to avoid the hassle. To be frank I was very surprised by all this couldn’t figure out why till years later.
The guy who asked them to stop was hit by one of those rockets.
